Historian Roy Knocke discusses Fridtjof Nansen’s work with the League of Nations in interwar Europe and his lasting legacy in the history of modern humanitarianism. Dr. Roy Knocke is the director of the Potsdam Lepsius House and an associate lecturer at the University of Potsdam.

Dr. Johanna Wernicke-Rothmayer gives us a look into Wegner’s journey from a young law student in Berlin to the man who documented and exposed the unimaginable horrors he witnessed in the Ottoman Empire in the shadows of WWI.Dr. Johanna Wernicke-Rothmayer is a literary scholar and the editor of Armin T. Wegner: Writer, Traveler, Human Rights Activist. She worked for Armin T. Wegner from 1964-1965 and was a lecturer of German language and literature in Nepal and India for more than 25 years. Dr. Wernicke-Rothmayer has served as the Deputy Chairwoman of the Armin T. Wegner Society in Wuppertal, Germany since 2011.

Political analyst Vicken Cheterian considers the legacy of World War I and the tremendous political, demographic and social transformation it brought about in the area we now call the Middle East. Dr. Vicken Cheterian is lecturer in history and international relations at the University of Geneva and at Webster University Geneva. He is the author of War and Peace in the Caucasus, Russia’s Troubled Frontier (2009) and Open Wounds, Armenians, Turks, and a Century of Genocide (2015).
