The Armenian Church and its theology after the 1915 genocide
The issue of genocide in the Ottoman Empire continues to concern and burden Armenians in their fourth generation. There are hardly any Armenians who have not lost relatives or the terrible Metz Yeghern (Great Genocide) would have already forgotten. The Armenian community mourns this every year on April 24. In 2015, the Armenian Apostolic Church canonized all victims through collective canonization. But what was actually done by the Armenian Apostolic Church to both provide concrete support to those affected and on a theological level to deal with this trauma with later generations?
With his contribution, Dr. Harutyunyan will address the most difficult period of modern church history in Armenia and seek spiritual prospects for healing this wound.
