“I have killed but I am not a murderer.”

Book presentation and discussion with Dr. BirgitKofler-Bettschart
Moderator: Dr. Roy Knocke (LepsiusHausPotsdam)
Following the genocide of 1.5 million Armenian women from 1915, a group of young men assassinated the main perpetrators of the genocide. Her tracks lead from Paris via Geneva to Berlin, from Istanbul via Vienna to Rome and Tbilisi. In her book hot off the press (March 2024), Birigit Kofler-Bettschart describes the organized approach of the underground campaign and traces the fates of the main players. It highlights the important consequences of the attacks for international law and at the same time highlights the relevance of international constitutional procedures for current conflicts in the Caucasus — the latest example is the exodus of Armenian women from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Two days after April 24, the annual day of remembrance of the Armenian Genocide, we would like to dedicate ourselves to this important story with the author.

Dr. Birgit Kofler-Bettschart comes from Tyrol and lives and works as an author in Vienna and Trieste. After studying law, she worked for UNESCO in Paris, in the Austrian Diplomatic Service and as Head of Cabinet at the Austrian Ministry of Health before setting up her own business as a journalist, communications consultant and publisher.
