Memorandum between Republic of Armenia, State of Brandenburg and Lepsiushaus Potsdam

Since 2023, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg (MWFK) in the Lepsius House in Potsdam have been promoting scientific research as part of the memorandum “German perpetrators and helpers in the Ottoman Empire: Memories and stories in Armenian-language sources/ from an Armenian perspective.”

On 19.01.2026, this memorandum was renewed at the Lepsius House in Potsdam by H.E. Ambassador Viktor Yengibaryan Brandenburg's Minister of Culture and Science Dr. Manja Schüle and the Director of the Lepsius House, Dr. Roy Knocke, thus extending the successful project for a further two years with funding of 30,000€.

The results of this research work have so far been the book publication “Humanism and Christian Mercy History of German Missions for Armenians in the Ottoman Empire 1896—1919” and a corresponding traveling exhibition on the subject (Dr. Hayk Martirosyan, Lepsiushaus Potsdam).
